my feelings on this topic...
As a child, I was always really excited when I found out that we were going to spend the day there. It honestly was one of my favorite things to do with my family and my friends because I was an AVID animal lover. I have had 3 cats, 10 hermit crabs, a fish, and honestly a few frogs I had snuck from my friends pond (needless to say my mother was NOT happy about them). I would literally be at the zoo the entire day when we went, wandering from enclosure to enclosure. My favorite animals to see were the tigers and the leopards because my mom would tell me that they were related to our cats. I would always remember them sunbathing and not being very energetic like I had seen them in the wild and on tv. It wasn’t until I was made aware of how poorly some animals were being treated while being in captivity. I cannot speak for every zoo and their enclosures but the treatment of these animals should be top priority to any facility holding these animals. There are a huge amount of people who agree and disagree with the handling and care of these animal but the question is, regardless of how we choose to side with the issue, when is there going to be action to protect the animals that are in our care? In a video that I created last year, I talk about both sides of the situation and give the facts and I can leave you to decide how you feel about the topic at the end of your own research.
